Star chaser Tim Zoo is set to return in style on Monday night, drawing box one in the opening heat of the Group 1 Hume Cup at The Meadows.
Sportsbet has the four-year-old as the $4.50 all-in favourite for the middle-distance feature ahead of Compton Gold and Summer Quinn.
Tim Zoo has had just one middle-distance run in Victoria – a blistering 33.67 seconds over 595m at Sandown, narrowly missing the track record.
Tim Zoo (2) wins the Group 3 Sir John Dillon Memorial over the 595 metres at Sandown Park last year in a blistering 33.67 seconds.
We haven’t seen Tim Zoo since October 18, where he ran fourth in a Free For All at The Meadows after missing the start from box six, before powering home late.
“He is going well. He is four years old now so there is no point wasting graded races on him,” trainer Jason Thompson said.
“His one start over the middle distance he was close to breaking the record – it’s his ideal distance.”
Next on the radar for connections – Sportsbet Melbourne Cup heats and potentially The Phoenix.
Six stacked Hume Cup heats headline Monday night’s card, while the Group 3 Silver Bullet (Race 9) adds even more star power – featuring returning Australian Cup winner, Mepunga Tully, Cranbourne Cup champion Colac Kid and Maturity Classic winner, Slick Splits.
Dream Chasers is about to heat up. Monday night is just the start.
