The fields are out for the 2017 Group Two Cranbourne Cup heats, and Group One Sale Cup winner Dundee Osprey is looking to continue his unbeaten streak over Cranbourne’s 520 metre distance on Saturday February 4.
Boasting more than $451,000 in prize money, the Gippsland trained Dundee Osprey has trainer Geoffrey Scott-Smith hoping for a successful return to the third leg of the Gippsland Carnival after missing out on a start in the Group Two Warragul Cup last Saturday night.
Dundee Osprey (box two) will have his work cut out for him with locally trained Blazin’ Bomber occupying neighboring box three in the first heat.
Unlawful Entry is debuting in the Gippsland Carnival from box two in the second heat but has last start Warragul Cup contender Aqua Chetetah (box five) to compete with.
Buck Forty is making his second appearance in the Gippsland Carnival after finishing second in the Summer Cup Final at Sale during the first leg.
Extreme Magic is jumping from box one in the fourth and final heat of the Cranbourne Cup for trainer Jason Thompson and is also undefeated over the 520 metres at Cranbourne.
The winners and second place getters are guaranteed a rug in next weeks Group Two $67,000 Cranbourne Cup.
Cranbourne is also set for their most exciting distance series of the Gippsland Carnival with champion Burn One Down jumping from box two in the Victoria Cup (699m) and last start Group Two Summer Distance Plate winner Dublin Bull is jumping from box four in the second heat.
