Last Wednesday’s 2015 Cranbourne Cup night provided tremendous excitement for Norma Gost’s Little River kennel as her star stayer Lady Toy took out the $21,000 Murphy’s Trial Track Victoria Cup (699m).
Despite racing against quality opposition and coming from well back in the field, Lady Toy won by a whopping eight lengths, which came as no surprise to handler Jim Psaila.
“She broke the 660m track record at Ballarat last start so I expected her to go pretty well again tonight,” Psaila said.
Lady Toy (Our Toyman – Railway Shiraz) has now had 47 starts for 11 wins, 11 seconds and 11 thirds, while the $15,000 first prize extended her career earnings up to $90,000.
“We breed all of our greyhounds ourselves so any win we have is a tremendous thrill, especially on a major race meeting like Cranbourne Cup night,” Psaila said.
Norma and Jim are renowned for keeping all of their greyhounds as pets once they retire from the racetrack.
